The EcoBox
The EcoBox is a self-contained environmentally sustainable workshop built from a standard shipping container. The workshop should comfortably accommodate 2 people for extended periods, and include all energy needs and waste disposal without connections to outside systems, excepting sunshine and rain. See numerous current and past photos here on our flickr collection.
The EcoBox, in it's variety of forms, seeks to solve the demonstrated need of:
- Refugees
- Homeless (particularly shelter-resistant)
- Temporary housing
- Vacation/leisure housing
- FEMA applications
- First Responder office/HQ
- Temporary Medical Office
- Construction Management Office
- Back-yard workshop
- "Mother-in-law" Apartment
- "Man Cave"
- Students
- Artists-in-residence
- Retreat Center
- Temporary Hospitality Suite
The EcoBox attempts to create these spaces with minimal energy consumption and requirements, with minimal waste and footprint, and in a manner that is light on the land and temporary or semi-permanent (i.e. able to be diassembled and reconstructed elsewhere).
